It also has information on how we store, use, transfer, and delete that information. This policy also explains how users can restrict the use or disclosure of their personal information and that of any minor children that they allow to access or post on The Skrive.

We know our users share their lives on The Skrive so trust is inherent to our business. Our goal is not only to comply with privacy law but to enable users to decide what information they want to keep private.

What Information We Collect & How We Use It

The Skrive records non-personally identifiable information about its users in order to measure the platform's effectiveness. The Skrive identifies certain user information in the course of its operation but this information does not reveal a user's personal identity. We collect this information only in the aggregate and use it to evaluate and improve The Skrive. The following are examples of non-personally identifiable generic information:

  • Browser User Agent Info: Settings, technical and other information from your computer, such as your operating system, browser version, connectivity, various communication parameters and other information related to the operation and interaction of The Skrive. The Skrive will use such information solely in order to provide technically appropriate formatting of information. The collection of this information will not include any personally identifiable information about you or any individual user.
  • Cookies: (These aren't the kind that you can eat.) Cookies are pieces of information that are used for record keeping purposes. Cookies allow The Skrive to save certain information about a user, such as individual preferences, in order to facilitate and enhance the user's future activity on the platform. A user may refuse cookies by turning off that feature on their web browser. The Skrive uses cookies to track usage of the site and further personalize your experience when you are visiting the site. By tracking usage, we can best determine what features of the site best serve the users.
  • IP Addresses: An IP address is a number that is assigned to a user's computer whenever that user is using the World Wide Web. Web site servers must be able to identify individual computers by their IP address. The Skrive collects IP addresses for the purposes of system administration security and to report aggregate usage information. The Skrive does not link IP addresses to any personally identifiable information.
  • Referral Data: When sharing a link from The Skrive, we will record what IP address completed the share, its user agent info and where the link is being shared to.

Personally Identifiable Information

Online privacy concerns focus on the protection of that "personally identifiable" information which an individual can reasonably expect to be kept private. As the term suggests, "personally identifiable" information is information that can be associated with a specific individual or entity.

The only personally identifiable information that The Skrive obtains about an individual user is information that is supplied voluntarily by that user. A user interacting with our platform may provide The Skrive with that user's name, email address, social media account names, domain name or URL or other personally identifiable information that The Skrive may use for its own business purposes. The Skrive will collect and use this information in order to provide and change services, to anticipate and resolve problems with use of the platform, for billing purposes if a user decides to subscribe to a membership, or to create or inform the user of products and services that better meet your needs.

Third-Party Login Access

When you create your My Skrive account, and authenticate it with a third party service – such as Facebook or Google - we may collect, store, and periodically update information associated with the third-party account including the third-party avatar, the name on the social media account and any social media associated email address. However, the aforementioned information is the only information that we are specifically collecting.

Third-Party Embeds

Some of the content that you see displayed on The Skrive is not hosted by the platform. These "embeds" are hosted by third parties and are embedded in the site. For example: YouTube or Vimeo videos, Imgur or Giphy gifs, SoundCloud audio files, Twitter tweets, Instagram or Facebook posts, or Scribd documents that appear in a post on The Skrive are third-party embeds. These files send data to the hosted site just as if you were visiting that site directly (for example, when you load a post page with a YouTube video embedded in it, YouTube receives data about your activity). The Skrive does not and cannot control what data third parties collect, or what they will do with it. So, third-party embeds are not covered by this privacy policy. They are covered by the privacy policies of the third-party service where the embeds are hosted.

Some embeds may ask you for personal information, such as your email address. We do our best to keep bad actors off of The Skrive. However, if you choose to submit your information to a third party, we don't know what they may do with that information. As explained above, their actions are not covered by this Privacy Policy. So, please be careful when you see embedded forms on The Skrive asking for your email address or any other personal information. Make sure you understand who you are submitting your information to and what they say they plan to do with it. We suggest that you do not submit personal information to any third-party through an embedded form.

If you embed a form that allows submission of personal information by users, you must provide near the embedded form a prominent link to an applicable Privacy Policy that clearly states how to you intend to use any information collected. Failure to do so may lead The Skrive to disable the post or take other action to limit or disable your account.
